GRANTS FUND ‘WHEATLAND WIRE’ COPIER

WHEATLAND (IOWA) Wheatland Betterment Committee is the recipient of a $750 Aureon grant and a $750 match from F&B Communications to purchase a new copier for the Wheatland Wire.

The Wheatland Wire is a community newsletter that was created more than 30 years ago to fulfill the public’s information needs when there was no longer a hometown newspaper dedicated to covering community news in Wheatland. Grant funds are being used to support the purchase of a new copier to replace a failed unit. In addition to Aureon and F&B, other local businesses and individual donors contributed to the copier replacement project.

F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider in Wheatland, is one of more than 100 Iowa independent telephone company member-owners of Aureon Network Services, which helps to provide advanced telecommunications and data services across the state.

Nearly $44,200 has been awarded to organizations in the F&B Communications service area since the charity grant program began more than 25 years ago.

The charity grant program is open to non-profit organizations in the F&B Communications service area. Grant applications are available online. Charity grants are awarded on a quarterly basis and chosen by an independent review committee organized by Aureon.

F&B Communications is the premiere local telecommunications provider offering telephone, long distance, Absolute Cable TV video, high-speed fiber Internet, and home security services to customers in the Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden and Wheatland exchanges and surrounding areas. The company also provides computer sales and service through their Technology Solutions retail division.
