F&B COMMUNICATIONS PURCHASES CABLE TV SYSTEM

WHEATLAND (IOWA) F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider, recently purchased the Lowden Mediacom cable TV system.

The sale adds subscribers to F&B Communications’ existing cable TV subscriber base in Lowden.

“We have already been serving Lowden with cable TV since 1994 and this is just one more way to extend our commitment to quality service,” said F&B Communications General Manager Ken Laursen.

F&B Communications was approached by Mediacom in early 2003 about their interest in selling the Lowden system so they could focus their energy in other areas.

“The decision to purchase the system was a natural move,” said Laursen. “We are already actively involved in the community and offer residents many communications choices, including cable TV, telephone service and high-speed DSL Internet.”

The sale closed Nov. 21 and previous Mediacom customers have been connected to the F&B Communications cable TV system since the Mediacom signal was discontinued.

Former Mediacom customers now have access to local information channel 20, a community message board featuring local news, weather and events.

“We’re confident customers will be pleased with the added value that local information channel 20 brings to their channel lineup,” said Marketing Manager Aaron Horman.

A strong local presence is one more advantage former Mediacom customers will notice. The F&B Communications business office is located five miles to the west in Wheatland and the company is frequently involved in community events and projects.

“If customers ever have a concern or question, they know we’re just down the road,” said Laursen.

F&B Communications is the local telecommunications provider offering telephone, cable television, digital broadcast satellite, dial-up Internet, high-speed DSL Internet and wireless PCS services to customers in the Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden and Wheatland exchanges and surrounding areas.
