WHEATLAND (IOWA) Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat, rural Wheatland, is the recipient of a $100 Iowa Network Services (INS) Charity Grant, plus a $100 matching contribution from F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider in Wheatland.

The grant funds will be used by the Retreat to help purchase a golf cart to transport guests around the 200-acre grounds, which include meeting rooms, overnight accommodations, extensive walking paths, a labyrinth and pond area.

“The golf cart will allow the Retreat to accommodate the needs of older adults, disabled persons and those with health issues,” said Ken Laursen, F&B Communications general manager. “We are proud to support a local organization by contributing to this cause.”

F&B Communications is one of 127 Iowa independent telephone company member-owners of INS, which helps to provide advanced telecommunications and data services across the state. INS established the grant program to bring INS closer to its member companies and customers.

Since the grant program was established in 1992, more than $10,000 has been awarded to organizations in the F&B Communications service area.

The charity grant program is open to non-profit organizations in the F&B Communications service area. Grant applications are available at the business office in Wheatland. Charity grants are awarded on a quarterly basis.

F&B Communications is the local telecommunications provider offering telephone, cable television, digital broadcast satellite, dial-up Internet, high-speed DSL Internet and wireless PCS services to customers in the Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden and Wheatland exchanges and surrounding areas.
