AXLINE NAMED 2007 F&B SCHOLAR
Danielle Axline, a senior at North Cedar High School, has been named this year’s local F&B Communications $500 scholarship winner.
Axline plans to attend Iowa State University, Ames, in the fall to study aerospace engineering.
Axline is an outstanding student and exemplifies the characteristics of the F&B Communications scholarship program with her school and community involvement and academic achievements, said Ken Laursen, general manager.
High school seniors who live in households in the F&B local telephone service area were eligible for the $500 award. Students submitted an application form and four finalists were selected for in-person interviews.
A primary goal of the scholarship is to ensure that our community’s children have the privilege of attending college and encourage young people to return to rural areas after graduation, said Aaron Horman, marketing manager.
In her application essay, Axline wrote of her leadership role in the North Cedar pep band and her program to increase participation among band members.
The local F&B scholarship was started in 2003 because the Board of Directors and employees of F&B are committed to the education of local youth and believe learning is a lifelong process.
