LOGAN LAFRENZ NAMED F&B SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
WHEATLAND (IOWA) Logan Lafrenz, a senior at Durant High School from rural Bennett, has been named this year’s local F&B Communications $500 scholarship winner.
Lafrenz plans to attend Iowa State University in Ames to study ag education.
In his application essay, Lafrenz wrote how growing up on a farm taught him a strong work ethic. He also shared how attending a small school allowed him to be involved in many activities and develop strong leadership skills.
Logan is an exemplary individual and possesses the talents necessary to become a successful contributor to his community, said Ken Laursen, general manager.
High school seniors who live in households in the F&B local telephone service area were eligible for the award. Students submitted an application form and three finalists were selected for in-person interviews.
A primary goal of the scholarship is to ensure that our community’s children have the privilege of attending college and encourage young people to return to rural areas after graduation, said Aaron Horman, marketing manager.
This is the eleventh year of the local F&B scholarship. The program was started in 2003 because the Board of Directors and employees of F&B are committed to the education of local youth and believe learning is a lifelong process.
Logan’s parents are Jeff and Dawn Lafrenz.
