C-W SENIOR LEAH CHRISTENSEN NAMED FRS SCHOLAR
Leah Christensen, a senior at Calamus-Wheatland High School, has
been named one of 25 national Foundation for Rural Service (FRS)

With more than 1,200 applicants for the FRS scholarship, Christensen

receive an award.
F&B Communications sponsored Christensen's application, providing
$500 of the $2,500 scholarship award.
“Leah is an exemplary individual and possesses the talents
necessary to become a successful contributor to her community,"
Ken Laursen, general manager.
Christensen is the second student in three years from the F&B
Communications service area to be awarded a FRS scholarship
"We're proud of her accomplishments and are honored to have
an individual from our community chosen for this award," said
Christensen plans to attend St. Ambrose University, Davenport, to
pursue a degree in English education.
A primary goal of the FRS scholarship is to ensure that our community’s
children have the privilege of attending college and encourage young
people to return to rural areas after graduation, said Aaron Horman,
High school seniors who live in households in the F&B local
telephone service area were eligible to apply.
Christensen’s parents Neil and Denise subscribe to F&B
