DELMAR SENIOR TARA KLUEVER RECEIVES $2,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
a senior at Maquoketa High School, has been named this year’s
local F&B Communications $500 Scholarship winner and is also
the recipient of a $2,000 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship.
Kluever plans to attend Bradley University, Peoria, Ill., in the
fall to major in health science and further pursue a master’s
degree in physical therapy.
“It is outstanding to have the same student selected for our
local scholarship also be chosen to represent our region as an FRS
scholarship winner,” Ken Laursen, F&B general manager,

With more than 800 applicants for the FRS scholarship, Kluever was
one of only 14 students selected from across the country to receive
an award. F&B contributed $500, and the foundation provided
the additional $1,500 of the $2,000 scholarship award.

A primary goal of both scholarship programs is to ensure that our
community’s children have the privilege of attending college
and encourage young people to return to rural areas after graduation,

The local F&B scholarship was started in 2003 because the Board
of Directors and employees of F&B are committed to the education
of local youth and believe learning is a life-long process.
The FRS was established by the National Telecommunications Cooperative
Association (NTCA) in 1994, of which F&B is a member.
Kluever’s parents Rod and Karen subscribe to F&B telephone
service in the Delmar exchange.
