WHEATLAND SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE AWARDED GRANT
Thanks to a generous grant of $1,294 from Iowa Network Services (INS),
the Wheatland Sesquicentennial Committee will be able to offset the costs to produce the city's commemorative history book. The book will be available for sale as part of Wheatland's 150th birthday celebration.
F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider in Wheatland, is one of 156 Iowa independent telephone
company member-owners of INS, which helps to provide advanced telecommunications
and data services across the state.
“F&B Communications has a strong history in Wheatland and we are proud to help support the book project that catalogs those events that have helped shape our community,” said Ken Laursen, F&B
Communications general manager.
The book updates the history of Wheatland by preserving in print information on the families, businesses, organizations and community projects that make Wheatland unique. The book project is just a small part of a community celebration that is being planned by community members to honor the town's rich heritage.
F&B Communications has also contributed a significant monetary donation to help offset the rental of tents and chairs for the celebration planned in August.
Since the charity grant program was established in 1992, more than $13,000
has been awarded to organizations in the F&B Communications
The charity grant program is open to non-profit organizations in
the F&B Communications service area. Grant applications are
available at the business office in Wheatland. Charity grants are
awarded on a quarterly basis.
F&B Communications is the premiere local telecommunications provider offering telephone, long distance, digital video, dial-up Internet, high-speed DSL Internet, satellite Internet and wireless PCS services to customers in the Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden and Wheatland exchanges and surrounding areas. The company also provides computer sales and service through their Technology Solutions retail store.
